How to use
Choose the cup and spoon standards printed in the recipe. Ingredient modes use documented reference cup weights and filling methods; weighing remains more repeatable than filling a cup.
FAQ
Can I convert both cups to grams and grams to cups?
Yes. Choose Volume → grams or Grams → volume, select the ingredient, then choose the cup and spoon standards used by your recipe.
Why can one cup have different sizes?
A US customary cup is 236.588 mL, a US legal or nutrition cup is 240 mL, a metric cup is 250 mL, and an Imperial cup is 284.130625 mL. The selected standard changes the calculation and unit labels.
Are ingredient cup weights exact?
No. They are method-specific reference cup weights, not physical constants. For example, all-purpose flour is about 120 g per US customary cup when spooned and leveled, but a packed cup can approach 160 g.
Can I scale a recipe?
Use the result multiplier (×0.5, ×1.5, ×2, or ×3) to scale the current conversion. This tool does not parse multi-line recipes.
