Final Grade Calculator

Find out what score you need on your final exam to reach your target grade, based on your current grade and the exam's weight.

How to use

Use percentage weights when your syllabus assigns percentages, or course points when grades are based on points earned. Add remaining items, optionally lock known scores, and edit the letter thresholds to match your school.

FAQ

How is the needed score calculated?

With one unlocked remainder, needed = (target − current × (1 − remaining)) ÷ remaining. If an item is locked, its weighted contribution is subtracted first and the same required score is solved across the other unlocked items.

Can I plan more than one remaining assignment?

Yes. Add final exams, projects, or other remaining items. Unlocked items are assumed to receive the same score, or you can lock a known score on any row and solve the rest.

How does points mode work?

Enter points earned and points possible so far, then the points available on remaining items. The calculator solves the score needed on the unlocked remaining points.

Are the A, B, C, and D thresholds universal?

No. The default A=93, B=85, C=75, and D=65 template is editable because schools and courses use different thresholds.

What if the needed score is over 100?

The target is unreachable under the entered assumptions. The result shows the true required score and the highest overall grade possible with 100% on every unlocked item.
