About PPF
PPF matures after 15 complete financial years, excluding the opening financial year. Extensions are made in five-year blocks. Rates are notified quarterly, while this calculator uses one frozen rate for a transparent illustration.
FAQ
What is the PPF term?
The opening financial year does not count. A PPF account matures after 15 complete financial years and may then be extended only in five-year blocks.
Why deposit before 5 April?
PPF interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and last day of each month. Depositing before the 5th earns interest for that entire month.
What rate should I use?
The 7.1% default is the notified rate for 1 July–30 September 2026, not a long-term promise. The Government of India notifies PPF rates quarterly, so projections here freeze the selected rate only as an illustration.
What is the annual PPF contribution limit?
Enter between ₹500 and ₹1,50,000 per financial year. The upper limit applies in aggregate to the subscriber’s own account and applicable minor accounts.
How does this calculator model deposits?
It models one annual contribution at the start of each projected complete financial year and compounds yearly. Actual PPF interest depends on monthly balances and future quarterly rates.
