Do I need a voltage converter or just a plug adapter?
Read the INPUT line on the device nameplate. If its full voltage and frequency rating covers the destination supply, only the physical plug may need an adapter. Otherwise a transformer or a different device may be required.
Does a voltage converter change frequency?
An ordinary travel voltage converter or transformer changes voltage, not mains frequency. A 50 Hz-only motor, clock or appliance may still be unsuitable on 60 Hz, and vice versa.
What do the plug type letters mean?
They identify common plug and socket shapes. This guide uses the IEC TR 60083 national plug-system information as its baseline; always verify the actual socket and grounding needs.
Is this data exact?
No. Brazil has 127 V and 220 V supplies depending on location, and Japan uses 50 Hz in the east and 60 Hz in the west. Older buildings and special circuits can also vary.
